KEEP IT MOVING LEARNING
Bethany, Experienced Educator
Mission: To keep students motivated to learn and keep their academic progress moving forward!
ABOUT ME
I have been teaching in Washington, D.C. for 20 years. I started out as a founding teacher at a brand new public charter school where I was an assistant teacher and taught dance to all the classes in the building. I got my certification in Elementary Education in 2005 and became a full time classroom teacher, teaching everything from 1st grade- 4th grade at different schools. However, I continue to teach dance, take dance classes, and integrate movement into everything I do. I am passionate about making sure kids stay engaged and excited about their learning. I come to you with a wealth of experience working with diverse groups of learners. I am here for you and your family as we navigate these uncertain times together. Let's "keep it moving" together.
TESTIMONIALS
"You are a nice teacher who helped me get better at reading with being tutored on Mondays. You gave me another chance when I made mistakes, you had a lot of patience with me. You made me feel special when I did good things."
Shawn Walker, 3rd Grade Student
"Everyone wants their child in a classroom where they have wonderful learning experiences coupled with equal emotional support and encouragement. As a parent, you always think to yourself, “I hope my child gets a ‘good’ teacher.“
“Ms. B” as she is affectionately called by her students who genuinely adore her, is an amazing educator. She is the kind of teacher that when children grow up, they say- my favorite teacher was....
She’s not just a "good" teacher. She's exceptional."

Bethany is truly a master educator. During the two years that she taught my daughter Zoe, I was continually impressed with her ability to connect emotionally with students and make learning fun and engaging. My daughter loves math and learning in general.
Bethany made the transition to remote learning look easy. She quickly mastered the technology and found ways to recreate the magic of her classroom online. I often saw Zoe smiling and laughing as she engaged with friends over Zoom, and I appreciated that she was working on meaningful activities during independent learning time

Bethany's tutoring support helped my first grader build a solid foundation as an early reader. Her lessons are engaging and fun and Ben looks forward to his sessions with Bethany each week. During the pandemic, we also asked Bethany to help our preschooler work on his letters and numbers as he prepares for elementary school. Teddy also really enjoys his lessons and has gained so much confidence establishing a relationship with a teacher when being in the classroom wasn't possible. Bethany's support for our sons has really made a difference in their academic success.
